Three Favourite Movies

My third movie pick is Kickass. I saw previews for this movie and never saw it because it didn't look very good. I thought it would just be some cheesy super hero movie. It wasn't until a friend showed me the movie when I realized how great it was. It turns out it had everything I like in a movie. Action, comedy, vulgarity as well as a great story. It is a story about what would happen in real life if somebody became a super hero. Great movie.

My second pick is The Road. This is one of my favourites because it was not at all what I expected it to be like. I expected it to be action packed with some dark post-apacolyptic themes. But it was actually a very sad movie. When a father and his son are left to walk the earth trying to find survivors this dark movie turns into a very passionate story with a very sad ending.

My first pick is the movie Point Break. This has been my favourite movie for many years now. I like it because it has a good story line with lots of action. The actors are well known in it also. Bank robbers, surfing, skydiving, fighting, incredible chase scanes... need I say more?

Song Review (2) "Now Arise"

Time is coming to an end
Prepare for the worst to come
You arise but your life has run dry
Show me the answers I've been looking for
Where did they come from?
I never wanted it to be like this
Lose what you have in mind
You all will be taken away

Nothing seems real anymore
I am no stranger of hatred and lies
We're lost and there's nothing left
Fear is the only thing that keeps us alive
Lose what you have in mind
What keeps us alive
You all will be taken away

Burn this place
So we can celebrate
A start of a brand new day
New beginnings time for change
New beginnings time for change

Don't always hide the fury and sit in silence
The less I hear the more I'm scared
Feel the victory and jump into a sea of serenity
Let the water clean your dreams
Afraid to let go of everything

Trying to keep unity and make a statement
But you bleed your head is spilling
All the judgments
All the wars
All the rivalry we face
Is leaking on the floor

When will it be okay to come outside
When the storm is dying and the rain is done
The composure of my soul is harmonized
By the sounds that travel into me

Show me the answers I've been looking for
Where did they come from?
Nothing seems real anymore
I am no stranger to all of this bullshit
Time is coming to an end
Prepare for the worst try to keep unity
Make a statement but you bleed your head is spilling
All the wars
All the Rivalries
The composure of my soul is harmonized
By the sounds that travel into me

Ok, so I changed my mind about the lyrical song I was going to review. I originally said I was going to review a "Job For a Cowboy" song but I changed my mind to review this song because it has more lyrics and flows better I think. The song is "Now Arise" by "Born of Osiris."
The song starts off pretty heavy with a more complex time signature. The guitars use a method called "Djenting" which gives the guitar almost like a bow sound. Unlike alot of modern metal songs, there is alot of keyboard and synthesizer use in this band's songs. It makes the song sound fuller and makes it seem like so much more is going on. I will post the lyrics with the video so you can see how well they flow with the sound and rhythm of the song. As for the meaning of the song, it was tricky but pretty much in a nut-shell the song is about the illuminati and the rebel between the high power and normal people. The song keeps it's heavy pase except the last minute where everything stops. The guitars ring out then there is some creepy string picking without distortion. The drums come in sounding like an electronic set which are not very loud or complex. Then the singer repeats the last verse of the song a couple times while still songing the same way. It fades out while he is still singing.

Love this song.

Song Review

This song is an instrumental song written by my favoutite band's guitarist Alex Wade, from Whitechapel. I chose this song because it is the heaviest instrumental song I have heard. Alex has a couple side project songs but this is by far my favourite. The combination of intense drums with 8-string guitars tuned down to drop A makes it so heavy. I love searching the internet for the next heaviest song. Nothing is too heavy. But I do appreciate all kinds of music, except country. I will post another song by another band I love, Job For A Cowboy, that has lyrics so I can analyze the lyrics.

Favourite Band ( Whitechapel live set 2011)

A Bit about ME

Hey whats up? My name is Stuart Dunlop and I'm a grade 12 student at G.D.C.I. I have lived in Goderich all of my life. I play the drums as a hobby but hope to make it a career someday. I play drums in a local metal band called "Anatomist". We just finished a 4 song EP so I will post a couple of our songs on my blog so you can have a listen and give feedback of what you think. The more feedback the better! I also work part-time at Zehrs in Goderich. I used to play sports such as baseball and rugby but drumming and the band has seemed to taken most of my time. I apreciate all kinds of music ranging from Death-Metal to rap. The only music I wont listen to is country, R&B and pop. I love horror movies and comedies. I used to love action but now I'm more into horror. My favourite band right now is Whitechapel ( a Death-metal band from Knoxville Tennese). I may seem quiet or shy in class but just talk to me and i'll always talk back. There is alot more to me but I think thats the basic stuff.
